This webinar brings together examples of different forms of facilitation from Norway, Scotland, Switzerland and the United States. We will share how facilitators act, the moves they make and the resources they utilise to start a wider discussion on facilitating the facilitator in Lesson Study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recorded presentations release May 2<sup>nd<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> May (live discussion online) at the following times:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>13:00 pm EDT<\/strong><br><strong>06:00 pm GMT <\/strong><br><strong>19:00 pm CET<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Discussants<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Sharon Dotger<\/strong> is an associate professor of science education in the Syracuse University School of Education and the faculty director of teacher education and undergraduate studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Lesson and Learning Studies and teaches courses in science methods and curriculum, learning theory, teacher professional development, and science education research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/video.syr.edu\/media\/t\/1_ognt706c\" style=\"background-color:#43a300\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watch recorded presentation<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pia-Ingrid Hoznour<\/strong> is a secondary school teacher in Western Switzerland where she teaches Science, Maths, English and History. She also teachers at Lausanne Teacher University (HEP VD) where she specialises in biology didactics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pia trains in-school facilitators to lead Lesson Study. Her research focuses on teachers, students, and pupils&#8217; conceptions of teaching and learning, through the parallels between scientific methods and creative processes. She is a Lecturer in Educational Leadership and Educational Politics, and is currently professionally responsible for two courses that form part of a new master\u2019 program in Educational Leadership at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her research work focuses on teachers\u2019 professional learning, specifically in the context of Lesson Study, and her studies have explored the importance of pupil voice, teachers\u2019 professional noticing and observations of students\u2019 learning for teacher learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/walsnet.org\/recorded-presentations\/index.php?link=webinar\/20230509%20Facilitating%20Lesson%20Study\/WALS%20Webinar%20-%20Facilitating%20Lesson%20Study%20-%20Anne%20Mette%20F%C3%A6r%C3%B8yvik%20Karlsen.mp4\" style=\"background-color:#43a300\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watch recorded presentation<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. John Paul Mynott<\/strong> is a senior lecturer and Head of Initial Teacher Education at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
