{"id":2773,"date":"2022-11-24T01:18:09","date_gmt":"2022-11-23T17:18:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/?p=2773"},"modified":"2023-04-18T08:22:20","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T08:22:20","slug":"norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morphmatters.com\/wals-new-theme\/2022\/11\/24\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Norwegian educators visiting schools in Malta on lesson study"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clestum.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Collaborative Lesson Study Malta<\/a> (CLeStuM) hosted four Norwegian secondary school educators \u2013 two school leaders, a deputy school leader and a teacher from H\u00f8yland and Bogafjell secondary schools \u2013 to discuss the initiation, development and support for sustaining lesson studies within schools in Malta. The aim of this visit was to compare and contrast lesson study experiences, to share lesson study resources among Maltese and Norwegian schools, and to explore possibilities for future collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday 15<sup>th<\/sup> November 2022, our first visit was at <a href=\"http:\/\/sacredheartmalta.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sacred Heart Junior School<\/a> starting off with a meeting with a Year 2 teacher, literacy teacher and a learning support educator about their experience doing lesson study. We then met the school leadership team to discuss school-wide lesson study implementation and how it can shape the way educators develop professionally. Following a school tour, our Norwegian guests visited classrooms to observe lessons. Finally, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mt\/profile\/jamesjcalleja\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James Calleja<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mt\/profile\/michelleattardtonna\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michelle Attard Tonna<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.um.edu.mt\/profile\/michaelbuhagiar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael Buhagiar<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/Laura-Formosa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Laura Formosa<\/a> representing CLeStuM, our discussions focused on lesson study in teacher education programmes and our two lesson study courses offered at postgraduate level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-2.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"2782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2782\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"2783\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2783\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"2784\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2784\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"2785\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walsnet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/norwegian-ducators-visiting-schools-in-malta-on-lesson-study-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2785\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On Wednesday 16<sup>th<\/sup> November 2022, we visited <a href=\"https:\/\/melliehaprimary.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mellieha Primary School<\/a>. Following a one-hour school tour and a classroom observation, we had an intensive and engaging meeting with the school leadership team who presented their three-year school-wide lesson study implementation plan.
